What To Do If The Diesel Generator Set Suddenly Heats Up During Operation

The phenomenon that the diesel generator set suddenly becomes very hot during operation generally occurs when the mechanism is suddenly damaged. Sudden damage to the mechanism will cause the coolant to stop experiencing a pressure cycle or a large amount of water leakage, or a sudden overheating, or a failure of the temperature test system.

The causes of overheating of the generator are:

1 The temperature sensor is out of order and the pseudo water temperature is too high.

2 The water temperature meter fails and the pseudo water temperature is too high.

3 The pump is suddenly damaged and the coolant stops circulating.

4 The fan belt is broken or the pulley tensioning bracket is loose.

5 The fan belt is dropped or damaged.

6 The cooling system is seriously leaking.

7 The radiator is clogged with ice.

Diagnostics and treatment methods for generator overheating:

1 Observe the presence of a large amount of water leaking outside the engine. For example, if there is any water leakage at the water discharge switch, water pipe joint, water tank, etc., it should be disposed of in time.

2 Observe if the belt is broken. If the belt is broken, replace it in time and tighten the belt.

3 Check the water temperature sensor and water temperature gauge for damage and replace if damaged.

4 Check the exhaust pipe of the engine and water tank for blockage and dredge.

5 If there is no water leakage inside and outside the engine, the belt drive is normal. Check the circulating pressure of the coolant and check and repair according to the “opening” fault described above.

6 Radiator icing generally occurs after a cold start in the cold season or when the long slope is turned off. If the rotation speed is high after starting, and the fan is strong, the lower part of the radiator that has just been added to the cold water is frozen. After the engine temperature rises, the coolant cannot be subjected to a large cycle to cause overheating or rapid boiling. At this time, the radiator should be warmed to reduce the amount of air blown by the fan, or to heat the icing part of the radiator, so that the ice dissolves quickly. When the car’s long slope radiator freezes, it should stop immediately and run the car at idle speed.

Precautions during use: Select to stop immediately in the wind or shade, open the engine cover, keep the engine running at idle speed, gradually lower the temperature, and prohibit the immediate flameout. If it is difficult to start after the engine is turned off, try to make the crankshaft slowly rotate to prevent the piston from sticking to the cylinder wall at high temperatures. During the cooling process, do not rush to open the radiator cover or expansion cover. When opening the cover, pay attention to safety and prevent hot water or steam from scalding. If you use too much water, you should add suitable soft water in time.
